Dupont Teflon Based Grout Sealer Review

Dupont's Grout Sealer is a low priced discount grout sealer available from Lowe's home improvement stores.  We tested this grout sealer to see if you can save some money with this sealer and still get good grout sealing results. Dupont's grout sealer has recently had the formula changed to use a newer Teflon based sealer technology for sealing grout. This sealer advertises that it can protect grout up to 3 years when used in an indoor application.

This sealer is a grout specific sealer that has a larger molecular structure for sealing extremely porous grout.  It is not made for sealing dense stone tiles so it should only be used for sealing grout in ceramic and porcelain tile installations. The large molecular structure of this sealer will not soak into dense stone tiles but the large molecular structure makes is better suited for sealing porous grout.

This sealer performed the best of any low cost budget based sealer we tested.  Although the stain resistance was not on par with any of the professional grout sealers it performed much better than any of the low cost sealers sold at Home Depot. The stains and spills beaded up well on the top of the sealer allowing you to easily remove the stains before they enter into the grout. The stain resistance of the sealer was more than acceptable for a low cost sealer. The newer Teflon based technology has not been adequately tested in real world applications so we are not certain how well this sealer technology will hold up over time. In our grout sealer review it did do an adequate job as a low cost budget based sealer.
